Working . . .

I am about 1/3 of the way done with McCartney's blanket. What in the heck was I thinking using 100% cotton yarn. Yes it will be fabulous and organic, but oh.my.gosh the yarn un-twists each and everytime you loop it. Wow, it is crazy difficult.

I do like it alot though. The cat will not leave the footstool while I crochet, and he is constantly trying to snag the yarn. Occassionally I will wrap the yarn on finger and it will be just a tad bit wet. Eeeew, cat slobber.

Gotta love the cat slobber.

Looks like you are doing fab at crocheting. Truly impressed. Seriously.

I am such a slacker. Not a creative bone in my body. My mom got all of that crafty/creative gene and greedy thing kept it all for herself. Heifer.

Oh yeah...and the skinny gene. Greedy heifer.

It is looking really nice! Thanks for the heads up about that yarn, I will remember that one.

hmm, I know I just met you but if I may ask what yarn you are using? I love to use peaches and cream, it is dirt cheap 100% cotton and made in the USA. I am what you could call a rabid knitter.

Essie, it is cream and sugar. Strawberry.

Holy Cow...you are quick. I, too, am using a cotton yarn for the baby blanket I am knitting. I'm thinking that the baby will probably never use the blanket because it will weigh 2 tons by the time I'm finished. My cat does the same thing with the yarn.

when i knit my cat will eat the darn yarn if my back is turned. This is not good, partially if your working with red wool as when you find it later (a day or so later) it can come as a bit of a shock. Especially if it is not fully evacuated from said cat....not nice!
As for cotton, nice one..but it will way a lot and take ages to dry...however look and feel lovely!

Are you using the yarn from the inside of the ball or the outside? If you do it from the outside, that's the "wrong" way and might be the cause of the unraveling.

Or maybe the batch was just poorly made?

I've used S&C yarn a TON for baby blankets and sweaters and never had problems with it.

(I'm a reader of Kari's and she linked to your blanket this morning.)

I am using from the outside. I couldn't figure out how to use from the middle. AMAZING what you learn on here! Thanks.

huhm, I think my other comment got eaten. I use that yarn for a ton of different stuff, and I have never had it go splitty on me- maybe it is not as good for crochet? I also use big needles and sometimes even double the yarn. I get finished projects faster that way, works with my ADHD lol! I can never find the little inside end, I go straight from the outside end too.
Hmm, this is a mystery.
Looks very pretty though, whatever you are doing is working!!!
